The Green Wave Gazette

A video by Matthew Lyons, Green Wave Gazette Media Manager, about being a student during the COVID-19 pandemic, was chosen from many sent in to PBS by students around the country. Lyon's response was aired on News Hour.

Matthew Lyons, Digital Team

Matthew Lyons is a member of the class of 2021. He joined the Green Wave Gazette in his sophomore year, but his first article was as a contributor his freshman year when he wrote a movie review on "Black Panther." After joining the Gazette in 2018, midway through the academic year he created and became the co-host (along with Aaron Johnson) of the newspaper's first podcast called The Weekly Wave. His role of Staff Writer changed as he created and became part of the Digital Team. On the Digital Team, Lyons serves not only as the creator and host of the Weekly Wave, but also as the editor of that podcast and visionary behind using digital media as a form of conveying news. In addition to the Green Wave Gazette, Lyons is also a member of two clubs at AHS: Peer Leaders and Film Club. He enjoys writing about movies and television, and when he is older he hopes to pursue a career in the film industry.
