Demon Slayer To the Hashira Training Arc (Review)

Demon Slayer Kimetsu no yaiba: To the Hashira training has released, in theaters in both dubbed and subbed formats. The movie is a combination of episodes that will lead into the next season (releasing sometime in spring) “The Hashira Training arc”. The movie meant to be a smooth segway and early, look at what is to come. The film begins with a recap of the previous seasons while playing the beautiful music from the series. After the recap the movie begins with season three’s final episode “A Connected Bond: Daybreak and first light” the thrilling conclusion to the series’ “Swordsmith Village Arc” where Tanjiro defeats the upper moon demon four, and Nezuko becomes the first demon to ever step foot into the sun. The movie does change some of the events of episode season three’s final episode to suit the flow into the next part by moving a scene or two around.

Seeing this movie in theaters just makes this movie more beautiful than it would be at home, the ending of the first half of the movie is so emotional and with the blare of the music and the huge screen it is truly a wonderful experience for any fan of the series.

Spoilers for the second half of the movie and potentially the beginning of season four ahead:

We start the latter half of the movie with Obanai and Sanemi, the snake and wind Hashira’s on a recovery mission to recuse a girl who was taken by a demon who retreated to an abandoned castle.

The castle seems ever expansive and is swarmed with mass amounts of demons, on the roof of the building the successfully recover the girl, but the demon who took her jumps down the roof of the castle, attempting to follow him Obanai and Sanemi are transported to the infamous “Infinity castle” before they are transported back to the abandoned castle.

Upon returning to the other Hashira and learning of the slaughter of two upper ranks, by the hands of Tanjiro and Muichiro. The Hashira learn of “The mark” a show of a demon slayer’s peak performance and grants them increased power and can slow down a demon’s regeneration. This mark was achieved by both Muichiro and Mitsuri during their respective battles with the upper rank demons.

To understand the mark and to get all the Hashira to achieve this, along with increasing their ranks the Hashira (except Giyuu the water Hashira) join with the retired sound Hashira Tengen Uzui to start training all demon slayers in the appropriately named “Hashira Training Arc”.
