Eric Church, a 37 year old American country singer-songwriter who is known for his hit song “Springsteen,” amped up a crowd of 10,000 fans at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on October 24 and 25.

Set lists for each concert on his Outsiders World Tour are slightly different. Church provides a VIP fan a list of songs before the show and lets him or her choose any tune they desire. Both nights a fan chose a song that Church had written when he was much younger, and had never made it onto an album. It helped add a special touch to each show.

On the Friday show we were at the very top row of the arena in the back. The second night we were four rows from the pit (all thanks to a generous casino member who gave my mom and I free tickets that he had won). But, it doesn’t matter where you sit at an Eric Church concert, the vibe is always sensational. Songs such as “Roller Coaster Ride,” “Pledge Allegiance to the Hag” and “Talladega” were show highlights.  During the song “Devil, Devil,” a giant inflatable devil glowed and spun round and around to the audience’s delight. The soothing sound of Church’s voice stands out during a live performance. It is truly an unbelievable experience.

Church spoke of how, in 2008, he performed for a handful of people at Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den (the free lounge area), but returned as a headliner in 2012 to play for thousands.  He seems genuinely grateful for the opportunity to share his music with his growing fan base. Check him out if you get the chance.
