Recently at AHS there have been specialty lunches such as the Pasta Bar and Waffle Bar appearing on our lunch menus. These new lunches allow you to choose what you want on your plate. For the Pasta Bar you can choose the type of pasta you would like and what you want for toppings (meatballs, broccoli, Alfredo sauce, chicken, etc.). I’m sure people have many questions like, “Will this continue?” and “Who organized all of this?”

Junior Rob Toomey was able to answer most of those questions for us. He explained that Mrs.Daisy (Health and Wellness Teacher) and Mr. Darcy (Food Services Director) came up with the idea of expanding the menu, and hoped student’s reactions would be positive. They sure did get the reactions they were hoping for; the line for the Pasta Bar ough nearly ran out the door.

Who came up with the specific new food ideas? “A group of students in Mrs. Daisy’s room came up with them,” said Toomey. So with these booming results, we wondered if the new choices would continue next year? To no ones surprise the answer is yes! These specialty lunches “will continue throughout next year and be available at least once each month,” said Toomey.  Also we should see some other improvements too. However, when or what these upgrades will be is yet to be revealed. Abington High School is striving for healthier and better lunches to satisfy its students.
