Winter season has wrapped up in Abington, how did each team do?
Girls Indoor Track had a record of 4-0 and won the league with League All-star recognition going to Vangie McCleary, Jordyn Fonseca, Maddie Mims, and Gia Bunnell.
Boys Indoor Track had a record of 3-1 and finished second in the league with Lucas de Oliveira as the league MVP as well as a league championship in the 4×200 with Nathan Calcano, Damian Monteiro and Naz Paulding. Also winning the league was Aiden Calcano in the 600m, and Thomas “Big T” Muniz in the Shot Put. League All-Stars were the six league champions, Lucas, Damian, Nathan, Aiden, Thomas, and Naz.
Girls Hockey (NSA) finished with a record of 13-7-1 and got the #17 in the MIAA tournament winning the Patriot League Fisher Division Championship and drawing Leominster in the first round.
Boys Hockey finished with a record of 10-6-4 and entered the MIAA tournament ranked #21 and faced Norwell in the first round. They were led by captain John McGrath and assistant captains Declan McCarthy and Nick Harris.
Boys Basketball finished with a record of 17-5 and entered the MIAA tourney ranked #8 and faced 25th ranked Nipmuc Regional in the round of 32, Watertown in the round of 16, before taking the drive up to Lynn in the quarterfinals to play the #1 seed St. Mary’s who would knock them out of the tournament. They were led by all stars Jake McSharry, Jack Reilly and Michael Reilly. Tyler Staiti and Kingston Maxwell both hit 1,000 career points during the season.
Girls Basketball finished with a record of 6-14 with all stars Savvy Eriksen and Zoie Maslanka leading the way.
How are the spring teams getting ready for the season and when is their first event?
Boys and Girls Outdoor Track starts their season next Wednesday April 2nd with a home meet against Cohasset at 4 pm at the track at Reilly Field. There is also a Time Trial (track’s version of a scrimmage) on Friday, March 28th at home against SSVT.
Boys Lacrosse starts their season Monday March 31st at 4 pm at Pembroke away in Pembroke.
Girls Lacrosse starts their season today, March 26th against Oliver Ames at home on the turf at 3:45 pm.
Baseball starts the regular season tomorrow at 4 pm against Cardinal Spellman behind Frolio on the Graham Baseball Diamond.
Softball starts their regular season on Friday, March 28th against Pembroke at 4:15 pm in Pembroke.
Ultimate Frisbee started their regular season already, yesterday on March 25th against Silver Lake at home. They came away 15-9 winners, starting the season strong.
