The Hawthorne Legacy is the second book of the Inheritance Games series, by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. The series starts with a teen girl named Avery Grambs, that inherits a big fortune from a man she does not even know. In the first book we see the connections that the characters create, feelinga of friendship and maybe something more can be felt while they try to solve the riddle that Tobias Hawthorne left for Avery and his four magnetic grandchildren.
In the second book, we get more mystery and thrills. The game gets more intriguing. The smart Avery fights danger with the four Hathorne brothers. Things start to look clearer. The clues lessen and the truth begins to come out. But is the truth really behind this game? Or there is something more that we should know, before deciding who the villain is?
Finding the reason why Avery was chosen to inherit all the fortune will not be easy. She will face individuals that will try to compromise her in every way. However, she is not all alone this time. She has Jameson, and besides his complicated nature, he will be helpful. Grayson seems to be less suspicious about her, and puts aside all the bad blood that was between him and Avery at first. Maybe he understands her feelings, maybe he finds himself to be closer to her than he wants to admit.
Avery will take a DNA test, convinced she has Hawthorne blood, convinced this is the reason why she inherited all the fortune that should have belong to the other people that live in her estate. But is she a real Hawthorne? And if she is, what kind of privilege does this gives her? This DNA test will bring to light some of the truth behind this riddle, it will be painful for some of our characters and not everybody will like it.
The romance is not missing in this novel; a poison kiss from a lover, a sweet touch from an enemy, complicated relationships between characters, romantic feelings that are repressed for internal conflicts, ruined family relationships. All of this can be experienced only by reading The Hawthorne Legacy, that can be found in bookshops or in the school library.
