This season, Boston Celtic superstars Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving returned from injuries. The Celtics should be one of the best basketball teams, right? Then why are they struggling so much this year?

The Celtics currently sit in 5th place with record of 44-31. This isn’t a bad record, but with the talented players and their excellent coach Brad Stevens, they should be so much better.

Their roster includes Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, Jason Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, Marcus Smart, Terry Rosier, Marcus Morris, Sr., Robert Williams, Arron Baynes, Dainel Theis, and Semi Ojeleye.

Gordon Hayward’s injury last year was gruesome, and he was out for the entire season. He returned this season not as good as he used to be, which is expected. He has improved this year, but he will probably never be 100% again.

There has been a lot of controversy with Kyrie Irving. Irving’s contract comes up at the end of the year, and GM Danny Ainge will have to decide if he wants to resign him.

Despite this, the Celtics will make the playoffs this year, because they need to be in the top eight in the conference, and they are fifth. The sixth place team is the Detroit Pistons, whose record is 38-37.

This week, the Celtics finally broke a four game losing streak, beating the Cleveland Caveliers on Wednesday, final 116-106. Tonight at 7 p.m. they face the Indiana Pacers. Currently, the Celtics lead 35-27 at 7:20 p.m. There are only seven games left in the regular season, so this win would be important.

Even though the Boston Celtics have had a rough regular season, they can have a deep playoff run that will be very exciting to watch. They, like all of the Boston sports teams, are a different team in the playoffs. Something clicks with them.

Hopefully, they shape up because playoffs are around the corner and they have the talent to win a championship.
