Helping Out For the Holidays
The Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry
For Thanksgiving, the Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry had a helping hand in making the holiday extra special for families in the community. On Sunday, Nov. 18, Mr. Jack Bailey, a familiar face around Abington, said the food pantry handed out “over 100 Thanksgiving dinners, turkeys with all the fixings.” These dinners for local families were prepared by athletes from the Abington High School and handed out at the food pantry to many families.
Mr. Bailey donates much of his time supporting Abington causes such as helping the Abington music parents and holding car washes at Bailey’s Garage for sports teams, schools, and clubs. Bailey is also currently hosting a Christmas tree sale run by the Abington Boy Scouts at Bailey’s Garage, while volunteering his time to the food pantry as well.
The Saint Vincent de Paul food pantry is always open for donations. For this holiday season, Bailey stated that “financial donations work best for us. For every dollar we are given, we can buy $8 worth of food from the Boston Food Bank. We visit the Boston Food Bank every Tuesday morning.” Other donations that are helpful at this time of year include “canned goods, cereals, and juice drinks.”
If you are interested in making a donation, you can drop them off to the Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry located at 425 Plymouth St. from 5:30-7:00 PM on Tuesdays. They can also be contacted at 781-878-1194.
Happy Holidays!
