A Ground Breaking Ceremony for the New School

Construction is underway

All the main players came together to formally kick off construction for the new school building at a ground breaking ceremony held at the construction site (formerly AHS athletic fields) on Monday, November 23 at 12:30 p.m. included the School Building Committee, the School Committee, the Board of Selectman, the project architects (Ai3 Architects LLC), the project manager (Knight, Bagge & Anderson, Inc.) and the general contractor (Brait Builders Corporation).

Featured speakers were Richard Testa – Chairperson of the School Building Committee,  Ellen Killian – Chairperson of the School Committee, John F. Keenan – State Senator, Geoffrey Diehl – State Representative, Jack McCarthy – Executive Director of the Massachusetts School Building Authority and Peter Schafer – Superintendent of Schools.

A few from the high school and Frolio Middle School were also in attendance (and helped with the shoveling). Junior Leah Alessi sang the national anthem.
