Kathryn Cawley is Abington’s new Varsity Lacrosse coach. But she is not new to Abington.

Cawley grew up in town, was a student-athlete on National Honor Society, was captain on the girls’ lacrosse team, and graduated in 2012.

She then went off to Colby- Sawyer College where continued her athletic career, playing on the Women’s Lacrosse team all four years. She is more than prepared for this job.

Cawley has a lot of experience. “I also have been playing lacrosse for over ten years. I played four years for Abington High School and continued my career playing four years at Colby-Sawyer College,” she said.

Before becoming the Varsity coach, Cawley was the assistant coach and JV lacrosse coach at Abington during the 2017 season.

Cawley is excited to coach. It has brought back some memories. “I am very proud and honored to be a coach for a team I once played on. It is an opportunity that I am very grateful for. I have been able to see how this sport has developed and grown throughout the years and now being the Varsity coach, I am very excited to see how much more we can continue to grow,” she said.

Cawley is excited for the rest of the season and being able to play. Covid has made the past year difficult, so she is excited to be able to have the season. Cawley coached the seniors their freshman year on JV and is now their varsity coach.

Cawley is very motivational and wants the girls to strive to do their best.“I am looking forward to seeing how these girls improve throughout the season. I can already see how much the seniors I coached three years ago, have improved and look forward to seeing these girls grow individually and as a team,” Cawley said.

“My favorite part about lacrosse is that it is a team sport. You cannot win a game or have a well played game without the defense, midfield, and offense all working together. I also like the fast paced mentality of the game,” she said. Everyone on the team is a factor in the win.

Cawley is ready to get after it this season and hopes to take her team to victory. Fans can’t wait to see how the Girl’s lacrosse team finishes this season.
