The Junior Class Auction of 2018 had many silent auction stations, such as this one. Auction-goers could put tickets in for the 50/50 raffle (shown in front), bid on silent auction items or participate in the live auction.

A tradition at Abington High School is the Junior Class auction. To date it always runs on a Friday evening in early December, and this year is no exception. From 7-10 p.m. tonight, the Junior Class will be auctioning off a lot of great items in the middle school cafeteria.

This is traditionally the biggest fundraiser a class will hold. It helps raise money for the class’s events such as junior prom and senior reception.

Rachel Barrett, class of 2021 president, said there are some “key live auction items” as well as raffles and a silent auction. Many local businesses donated. Some items being auctioned are Taylor Swift tickets for the Aug. 1 concert at Gillette, Boston Celtics tickets behind the Chicago Bull’s bench on Apr. 15, a Yeti cooler, a Charbroil Grill, and even a piano from Piano Mill!

There is a $5 entry fee which includes a paddle for the live auction and a raffle ticket towards the door prize – a pastry basket donated by Trufant Real Estate. Raffle tickets will also be sold 3 for $5, 7 for $10 and 15 for $20. Along with their raffle and live auction, they will also hold a silent auction.

“Come and enjoy our raffles, silent auction, and live auction all while you enjoy holiday treats and cheer. We hope you decide to join us on this fun-filled evening!” Barrett said.
